YPN Mission:
In an atmosphere of respect, compassion and relationship building, we serve America's at-risk children and youth in their communities through networking, education, and training.
YPN Background:
YPN has its roots as the USA Ministry of Compassion International, a highly respected evangelical child sponsorship organization. The USA Ministry served America's at-risk children and youth for over 30 years. With the growth potential and unique circumstances surrounding Compassion's USA Ministry, it was decided that this domestic branch of Compassion's worldwide outreach could be better served - and reach more children and youth - by launching as a separate organization governed by an elected board of directors. Therefore, with Compassion's support, start-up funds, and continued blessing, YPN was birthed July 1, 2003.
With 30 years of experience as CUSA, YPN now partners with hundreds of local and regional organizations, strategically focusing on the development of three key areas in local ministry: Networking, Education and Training… the NET.
YPN Goal:
- The core goal of YPN is to bridge needs with resources by:
- Supporting local faith-based programs with a potential of reaching thousands of children and youth
- Training an army of indigenous children and youth workers
- Developing local leadership to increase local ministry capacity
- Strengthening fundraising systems for our ministry partners
- Forming urban to suburban partnerships
- Challenging new donors to support these efforts
Program Strategies:
YPN's Networking Strategies focus on facilitating citywide and national networks of ministry and resource partners to enhance cooperation and build relationships for support and self-sustainability. Our networking strategy brings the expertise of frontline outreach faith-based ministries, local leadership, and resource allocation together with suburban and business resources for those in need. Currently there are over 130 ministry partners in our network that serve children and youth in urban, rural and Native American communities.
YPN's Education and Recreation Strategies put at top priority the matching of sponsorship funds with weekly programs for children and youth living in America's high-risk communities. Programs include after school activities, tutoring, mentoring, summer day sports camps, skill building, recreation, and community building activities.
We also provide assistance to ministries via the resources offered in our NET emailing and website which present updates about upcoming federal grant opportunities, ministry partner events, strategies for fundraising, and other valuable tools and materials.
YPN's Training Strategies provide national, regional and local training to key program staff working and volunteering in high-risk communities is YPN's core training strategy. YPN sponsors regional Executive Director Leadership seminars to train and support frontline leaders of small faith-based ministries. Executive Directors are trained on best-practice strategies to "Build Your Boat, and Keep it Afloat". Each leader will leave the 2 day seminar with practical tools to assist them with fundraising, accounting procedures, non-profit management and other vital resources essential for running a successful and self-sustainable ministry.
YPN also partners with national organizations to provide the highest quality of training, inspiration and moments of retreat for those on the front-lines of ministry.
