February 2007

Thank You!

I thank you and my mom thanks you and even my mother-in-law thanks you for your gift this month. Here's why. You helped it to be a "Happy Valentine's Day" for them and me.

As President of YouthPartnersNET, one of my main responsibilities is to raise funds and donations from folks like you to carry on the important mission of bringing hope and the gospel message to thousands of children and youth living in America's at-risk communities. So I'm always looking for ways to increase our effectiveness, partnerships and resources.

Everyone tells me one of my special gifts is "networking". I don't think Paul mentioned that as a spiritual gift but it does help when I'm out there looking for ways to help others. Last month I was at a "networking" meeting and heard about this online Community Plus Mall founded by some men from Rick Warren's church in California. The concept is simple. Merchants are always looking for customers and will give an average of 4-5% of every purchase to anyone shopping online. Community Plus Mall passes on those rebates to Christian ministries like YouthPartnersNET.

So why are my mother and mother-in-law thanking you? Well, I wanted to check out this new resource before passing it on to you. As soon as I clicked on the red logo, a monthly Valentine special from ProFlowers offered "24 red roses and a free vase for only $29.99". And YPN get's $7.50 of each purchase. So as a good son and son-in-law, as well as YPN fundraiser, I bought two!

I don't know about you but we buy a lot of stuff online; airline tickets, hotels, car rentals, even photo reprints. Now all of those convenient purchases with your favorite vendors (600+) will benefit YPN and those we serve at no additional cost to you. What a great way to increase your monthly donations!

  1. To set up your account (only required the first time):
Simply go to our YPN homepage: www.YouthPartnersNET.org
  2. Click on the Community Plus red button (look to the right)
  3. Click "Register Now" to create your Supporter Registration Account, which will keep a record of how much you have spent and how much was donated to YPN
  4. To shop: Save www.CommunityPlus.com/YPN in your favorites for all your shopping needs
  5. Click "My Community" to log in every time you shop
  6. Have fun shopping!

Now, I did my homework. I went to some of those merchants home sites and the prices were the same. So there are no hidden costs or markups.

Please join my wife and I by signing up with YPN's online shopping mall and watch your donations grow. (It even shows you how much money per purchase is passed on to YPN!). And tell your friends and family!

May the Lord bless you and keep you as you open your heart to help those in need.

PS: Don't tell Marge or Betty. It's a secret!
