Bibles

October is upon us and the leaves are changing rapidly here in Colorado. The Aspens go from green to gold in a matter of weeks. But that's not all that's changing. The Bible is changing too. Now don't get alarmed, it's not what you think.

We aren't changing the unchangeable word of God. However, in partnership with International Bible Society, we are helping them produce and promote a new version of the very successful urban youth edition called, "My City, My God". Over the years YPN and Compassion have been key partners with IBS to get these unique urban youth Bible into the hands and hearts of ten of thousands of children and youth, many of whom have never had a Bible of their own. So far YPN, along with your help and gifts, has distributed 19,498 Bibles.

I've watched many kids open their Bibles and go straight to the testimonies. From there they start to read God's word, many for the first time.

What makes this edition so unique is that it is sprinkled with full-color pictures and testimonies of urban kids who have read God's word and changed their lives completely around. I've watched many kids open their Bibles and go straight to the testimonies. From there they start to read God's word, many for the first time.

On November 6th, IBS and YPN will be launching this new version nationwide at our ministry partner lunch in Denver. So please pray for this launch and if you know anyone that would like to help us purchase more bibles that would be great. We can print and ship these bibles for about $2.50 each.

Finally, I want to thank you for your gift which has helped us start a new local lunch network in Minneapolis. I was in the Twin Cities in August holding our Executive Director Leadership Training which we highlighted in last month's letter. The folks there were so excited they decided they wanted to keep meeting together monthly. So last week they had their first networking lunch which YPN hosted.

These local city network lunches are a tremendous outcome of YPN's Leadership Training and we're trying to get them started in cities all across America. You or your church might want to help host one of these. Just let us know if you do. It costs about $200/month to provide lunch and host a local network.

Because His work never changes,

Dean Cowles

PS: pray for us as we hold more Executive Director Leadership Trainings in the coming weeks in Johnson City TN, New York NY, Miami FL, Houston TX and San Diego CA. And pray for both Cheryl and me as we sent our first son off to college late August - 1500 miles from home.
