Throughout our long history, Compassion International has upheld a strong commitment to helping the most needy children in America and around the world. Now in an innovative approach to our former USA Ministry to reach children and youth living in high-risk communities more effectively than ever, Compassion International is pleased to assist in the launch of YouthPartnersNET.
Setting the course of direction for YouthPartnersNET is Rev. Dean Cowles. For the past three years, Dean has led Compassion’s USA Ministry in the outreach to children and youth who need the love and compassion of Jesus. By watching Dean in this leadership role, I know that the YouthPartnersNET team and volunteers will do even more than we can imagine lifting up little ones living in poverty. Through their encouragement and training, dedicated local workers who daily serve faithfully in the trenches will be newly equipped and enabled.
I encourage you to join all of us in the Compassion family in supporting and praying for YouthPartnersNET as they focus on building city Networks, establishing Education and recreation programs, and Training local staff and volunteers. The NET model is the most effective tool for maximizing direct positive impact on children and the long-term sustainability of local ministries in America.
As president of Compassion International, I have a deep burden for America’s children and youth. While in college, I started tutoring programs in very poor communities of Chicago and later spent considerable time on Native American reservations.
I’ve seen poverty all around the world. The despair and disillusionment in America as well as Third World nations breaks the heart of God. Those of us who are called by His name must take action.
You can be part of God’s plan to combat poverty right here at home. I encourage you to join in partnering with YPN. We must make a difference now because poverty has no borders.
Sincerely in Him,
Wesley K. Stafford,
President, Compassion International
