YouthPartnersNET Ministry Parters Receive Federal Faith-Based Grants

Denver, CO October 13, 2006 - Urban Ministry Leader YouthPartnersNET announced today that two of their Ministry Partners were awarded federal faith-based grants from the Compassion Capital Fund.

Shepherd Community Center in Indianapolis, IN was awarded a $750,000 three-year grant. Shepherd was founded by YPN President Dean Cowles in 1985 and has grown into a $1.5 million faith and community-based ministry, recently moving into their new $2.5 million renovated facilty under the leadership of Jay Height. Shepherd Community Center is considered a model ministry in Indiana.

Sun Valley Youth Center in Denver, CO was awarded a $50,000 demonstration grant to build internal capacity to further deliver services to at-risk youth in this high-risk neighborhood. With YPN's assistance, SVYC was also awarded a $180,000 three-year federal grant last year from the Latino Coalition to work with Latino youth in Denver.

YouthPartnersNET conducts local networking meetings in both Chicago, Illinois and Denver, Colorado.
