Education & Recreation Strategies:
Trail of Hope
In July YouthPartnersNET in cooperation with Christ for Native Youth presented Trail of Hope Native American Youth Workers Conference in Colorado Springs. Approximately 300 students and 100 youth leaders from 30 Native American tribes attended four days of networking, equipping, training, worship, and dozens of workshops with fellow Native American children and youth workers. Every light, video, song, and word were carefully crafted to highlight each session's biblical theme with speakers Don Bartlett, Fred Lynch, Dobie Weasel, and Dino Butler. High-energy concerts featured the Supertones, Marcus EmCeeOne, Redcloud, The Sonflowerz, Rachel Washington, and Tom Bee. Afternoon treks included the U.S. Olympic training center, Garden of the Gods, and the Air Force Academy. Basketball, ice hockey, and the pool provided hours of fun and interaction. Quality staff led workshops on topics such as purity, dating relationships, and grief.
Most importantly, many came to Christ for the first time, and others renewed a commitment to make their lives count for God. Trail of Hope was a brief moment but a monumental part of the journey. Two years of planning have found fruition in changed lives. Please continue to pray with us so that we will know God's leading IF, WHEN, and WHERE the next conference will be.
Trail of Hope Native American workers conference is part of YPN's on-going commitment to train, equip, inspire, and encourage those working with children and youth in America's high-risk communities along with CompassionWorks Urban Workers Conferences held in Denver, Chicago, Philly.
Native American reservations continue to lead the nation in youth crime, alcohol abuse, and teenage pregnancies. It's a tough battleground these dedicated workers are determined to win. Your help is needed. $100 helps provide a scholarship for one Native American worker to attend this extensive conference.
