Happy 90th Birthday Billy Graham

Last week my wife and I had the privilege to visit the Billy Graham Library while visiting our son who is attending UNC - Charlotte on a soccer scholarship. My folks were also in town so we watched some great soccer games and visited the library. It was a very moving experience.

I had a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes during the whole tour. Billy Graham has had a tremendous impact on my life and our family. My dad told us that his first date with my mom was at an LA Billy Graham crusade. While serving at a missionary hospital in Kenya it was my honor to start the L. Nelson Bell Chaplaincy Training School in honor of Ruth Graham's father Dr. Bell who was a missionary doctor in China. My grandparents and great-grand parents were also missionaries in China during that era. It was a highlight of our lives to meet the Graham's after coming back from kenya at a conference for missionaries hosted by Franklin Graham.

As we walked and listened to the tapes, videos, and testimonies of millions of lives changed through one humble life, it reminded me again how each of us can have an impact in our world by simply sharing the simple truth of the gospel which was Dr. Graham's trademark.

Billy Frank, as he was called during his childhood, will be celebrating his 90th BD next on November 7th. So join us and write a note at https://www.billygraham.org/bgbirthday.asp.

Finally, one of the most touching moments was standing at Ruth Graham's graveside. Of course there was room for Billy's headstone next to hers. It was a simple grave with only this unique quote on it she once saw on a sign at a recently finished highway project;

"Construction Finished. Thanks for your patience."

It's ok, you can cry too. We did. And we stood there and prayed together that at the end of this "under construction" road the Lord will also say, "Well done thou faithful servant"
